Terms & Conditions
Please read these terms carefully before using Living History Events. By using the site, you agree to them.
1. Acceptance of these terms
By accessing or using livinghistoryevents.co.uk ("the site"), you agree to be bound by these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
2. What we provide
The site is a free directory for discovering UK living history and reenactment events, and for finding reenactment groups. We don't sell tickets or process payments — where an event has a ticket link, you'll be taken to the organiser's own site or ticketing provider, and your purchase is between you and them.
3. Accounts
Accounts are created via Google Sign-In. You're responsible for keeping your Google account secure — we never see or store a password of our own. You must provide accurate information when creating an account or submitting a listing.
4. Content you submit
When you submit an event, group, review, rating, or photo, you confirm that you have the right to submit it and that it's accurate to the best of your knowledge. You grant us a licence to display that content on the site for as long as it remains published.
New listings are published immediately with an "Unverified" badge while we review them, rather than held back pending approval. We may edit, unpublish, or remove any listing or other content at our discretion — for example, if it's inaccurate, inappropriate, or infringes someone else's rights.
You're responsible for the accuracy of your own listings, including keeping event dates, prices, and details up to date.
5. Ownership claims
Some listings may initially be added by us (for example, from public event directories) and attributed to an administrator account. If you're the genuine organiser or group contact, you can request ownership of that listing. We review ownership claims manually and may ask for supporting evidence before reassigning a listing.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Submit false, misleading, or defamatory content.
- Upload images you don't have the rights to use.
- Attempt to claim ownership of a listing that isn't genuinely yours.
- Use the site to harass, spam, or impersonate any person or organisation.
- Attempt to interfere with the site's security or normal operation.
7. No warranty on listing accuracy
Event details — including dates, times, prices, and whether an event is going ahead — are provided by organisers and may change without notice. Always check directly with the organiser before travelling to an event, particularly close to the date. We're not responsible for losses arising from a cancelled, postponed, or altered event.
8. Limitation of liability
The site is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we're not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site, your attendance at an event listed on it, or your dealings with any organiser, group, or third party found through it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
9. Third-party links and services
The site links to third-party websites (organiser sites, ticketing providers, social media) and uses third-party services (including Google Sign-In, Postmark, postcodes.io, and OpenWeatherMap) to operate. We're not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of any third-party site or service.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account, or remove any content, at our discretion — particularly in response to a breach of these terms.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
